Youth Services – Librarian
Full Time
Seeking a dynamic, tech-savvy, customer service-oriented librarian with strong communication skills to join our busy Northwest Suburban library. This self-directed role focuses on engaging with and providing outreach to middle school students (grades 6-8). Key responsibilities include providing reference and readers’ advisory at the Youth Service desk, programming for K-8th grade, and collection development.
40 hrs/week including one night and weekend rotation. Position includes evening and weekend hours.
Requirements:
- ALA-accredited MLS
- One year customer service experience—public library experience preferred
- Youth librarianship and experience with this age group is desired
- Advanced knowledge of print, non-print, and electronic resources
- Knowledge of word processing, e-mail, PCs, and current technology
- Spanish language skills desired
Salary: $22.83-$25/hour, DOQ, benefits package. EOE
