September is Library Card Sign-Up Month!

The first 100 people to sign up for library card in September will receive a CLPL mug! PLUS, new and current cardholders can enter our drawing to win a gift basket filled with reading “essentials.”

The Adult/Teen Baskets contain a Kindle e-reader, reading socks, a tote bag, drink tumbler, iced coffee and chocolate.

The Kids Baskets contain a Toniebox audio player set, an Amazon gift card (so the winners can purchase their favorite Toniebox character), reading socks and snacks.

We have four baskets: two will be awarded to new CLPL cardholders and two will be awarded to current cardholders. Winners must be CLPL cardholders (Student Access Cardholders are not eligible).

Historical actor/author Clay Jenkinson will bring J. Robert Oppenheimer to life through a gripping first-person portrayal. No prior graduate degree in quantum physics required. This performance is a fundraiser for the Crystal Lake Library Foundation and Raue Center for the Arts.

New District 47 Students - Get Your Student Access Cards!

Students who live outside the city of Crystal Lake boundaries can get a Student Access Card from Crystal Lake Public Library if they attend a Crystal Lake Elementary District 47 school. The Student Access Card allows students to check out up to three books or audiobooks at a time and gives them access to library programs and online educational databases.

New kindergarten-8th graders starting at D47 schools for the 2024-2025 school year can apply for a Student Access Card starting Thursday, Aug. 1. Returning 6th-grade students must renew their Student Access Cards this year since they are switching schools. Renewals start on Aug. 1. as well.

Vote Early at Crystal Lake Public Library!

Crystal Lake Public Library will serve as an early voting site for McHenry County residents from Oct. 21 to Nov. 4. The voting booths will be set up in the library’s Ames Room on the lower level of the library. Please enter through the library’s main entrances and take the stairs or elevator to the lower level.
