Scout groups in the city of Crystal Lake are welcome to request one badge workshop per school year.

Please include troop/pack number, number of scouts in the group, and number of adults who will be attending. Requests should be submitted at least two weeks in advance of the preferred date.
*Note: Visits are subject to staff availability and are not booked until confirmed by the Library Scout Coordinator. Visit will be customized by the Library Scout Coordinator and the Troop/Den Leader.
Lion
Gizmos and Gadgets – Scouts will make a marble maze, fly a rocket that runs on air and make a bird feeder from recycled materials.
Build It Up, Knock It Down – Scouts will build a structure from various materials, work together to create a cardboard city and team up to make a domino maze.
Tigers
Curiosity, Intrigue, and Magical Mysteries – Scouts will work together to encode and decode messages as well as learn and practice a magic trick.
Good Knights – After discussing courteous behavior, scouts will design and create a cardboard shield and use various materials to create a small castle.
Wolf
Digging in the Past – Scouts will play a dinosaur identification game, create their own imaginary dinosaur and participate in a dinosaur dig.
Air of the Wolf – After discussing basic concepts and definitions, scouts will make and test various paper airplanes, play airplane golf and make a Wolf-copter.
Bear
Marble Madness – After discussing basic concepts, definitions and vocabulary associated with marbles, scouts will make a marble bag, play a variety of marble games, build a marble racetrack and create a marble maze.
Super Science – After discussing basic concepts and definitions, scouts will investigate static electricity, color-morphing, color-layering and items that sink or float.
Webelos
Modular Design – After discussing basic concepts of modular design, scouts will use Legos® to build a modular design model, create step by step instructions for their model, and have another scout follow the instructions to recreate their model.
Art Explosion – After discussing basic concepts and definitions, scouts will use a variety of media to create a self portrait and a 3D sculpture.
Arrow of Light
Engineer – After discussing basic concepts and definitions, scouts will learn about a variety of engineering fields, examine a blueprint and build a paper roller coaster.
Daisies
Game Board Design Challenge (Mechanical Engineering) – After discussing basic concepts and definitions, scouts will work together to create and test their own board game.
Space Science Explorer – After discussing basic concepts and definitions, scouts will participate in several activities related to the sun, moon, and stars.
Brownies
Craft and Tinker – After discussing basic concepts and definitions, scouts will use various tools and supplies to create a useful item which solves a problem.
Space Science Adventure – After discussing basic concepts and definitions, scouts will participate in several activities related to the sun, moon, and stars.
Juniors
Detective – After discussing basic concepts and definitions, scouts will test their powers of observation as well as practice their detective skills.
Robotics – After discussing basic concepts and definitions, scouts will participate in several activities which demonstrate how robots are programmed to carry out their tasks.
